Bowmore 12 Year Old Sherry Oak Cask is an Islay single malt at 40%, in a 70cl bottle. It is the first expression in the Sherry Oak Cask Collection.
The whisky is matured in hand-selected European oak Oloroso sherry casks and American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in seasoned European oak Oloroso sherry casks. It was distilled at Bowmore, Islay's oldest licensed distillery, founded in 1779.
The nose offers vanilla caramel, red berries, marzipan and dried fruit. On the palate come ripe pears, lemon, cinnamon, toasted almonds and peaches in syrup, with smoke rising through. The finish is long and sweet, with spice and nuttiness.
