An Islay single malt Scotch whisky aged twelve years in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Bowmore was founded in 1779 on the shores of Loch Indaal.
The spirit is matured in the No. 1 Vaults, a seaside warehouse below sea level. The distillery malts roughly a quarter of its own barley on its floor maltings.
Soft peat smoke, citrus zest and honey come first on the nose. Honey and lemon lead the palate, with gentle brine, restrained peat, dark chocolate and dried fruit. The finish is medium, with peat smoke, sea salt and lemon rind.
