This is Bowmore 12 Years Old, a single malt from Islay in a 70cl bottle. It has matured in oak casks for 12 years. The distillery was built in 1779 and is described as the oldest legal distillery on the island.
The spirit is distilled in two steam-heated stills, one of 30,000 litres and one of 15,000 litres.
The nose brings lemon peel and peat, softened by a touch of honey that sits against the smoke. It is delicate and quite floral.
