This is a 17 year old Bowmore single malt from the Craftsmen's Collection, a Warehousemen's Selection distilled on Islay on 14 June 1999. It was matured in a selection of bourbon, sherry and wine casks and bottled at 51.3% ABV, in an edition of approximately 3000 bottles.
The nose brings candied orange, ripe cherries, dried apricots and warming ginger, with a hint of mint and delicate vanilla. On the palate there is honey, toasted almonds, mango and sea-salt caramel, creamy and full-bodied. The finish is medium to long, with spiced apple, earthy liquorice and a gentle woodsmoke warmth.
