Bowmore 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 43% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It was matured for 25 years in North American bourbon casks and Spanish sherry casks at Bowmore Distillery on the shore of Loch Indaal.
The two kinds of cask each leave their mark, with sherry and stewed fruit alongside toffee and hazelnut, and the distillery's peat smoke in the background. The whisky has a mahogany colour.
The nose is intense with sherry and stewed fruits and a trace of smokiness. On the palate come toffee and hazelnut with a hint of sweet peat smoke, followed by a mellow, gentle and complex finish.
