Bowmore 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Bowmore was founded in 1779 and still malts part of its barley on site.
The whisky matures in North American bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry casks, in the No. 1 Vaults, a warehouse whose floor sits below the high-tide line.
The nose shows stewed plum, black currant, allspice, star anise and cocoa, with restrained peat smoke and tanned leather. The palate is rich and sweet, with toffee, hazelnut, cinnamon and tangerine, and a full, oily texture. The finish is long, ending in dry cocoa, a saline note and a last return of smoke.
