Bowmore – 50 Year Old 1969 (70cl, 46.9%)

A 50 year old single malt from Bowmore, from 1969, bottled at 46.9% in a 70cl bottle. It was released in 2021 in an edition of 339 bottles, and its colour is burnished chestnut. The nose opens with freesia, dried geranium and lily of the valley, mingling with Chablis, citrus fruits and gooseberries, then sweeter acacia honey, apple pie, vanilla pods and cream. The palate begins dry and floral, with carnations, before lemon meringue, grilled almonds and light creme caramel fudge arrive, with white pepper, nutmeg, oak spices and light coconut. The finish is lightly sweet and warm, with subtle floral and malty notes.
