Bowmore 9 Year Old is an Islay single malt that balances gentle peat smoke with a rich sweetness. Bowmore was the first distillery on Islay to receive a licence, and was officially founded in 1779.
The nose opens with soft coastal smoke, sea salt and charred oak, followed by dark fruit, orange peel, vanilla and warming spice. The palate has caramel, dried berries and malted biscuit alongside earthy peat, pepper and a little maritime salinity. The finish is medium in length, with sweet oak, dark fruit, spice and a dry, smoky warmth.
