An Islay single malt from Bowmore, matured for 25 years in North American bourbon casks and Spanish sherry casks. It is bottled at 43% in a 750ml bottle.
This is the Small Batch Release labelling of the distillery's 25 Year Old, a limited bottling reported at 8,000 bottles. Bowmore, founded in 1779, still floor-malts part of its barley in-house.
The producer describes a deep mahogany colour. The nose has intense sherry and stewed fruits with a trace of smokiness. Toffee and hazelnut lead the palate, with a hint of sweet peat smoke, and the finish is mellow, gentle and complex.
