Bozal Guías de Calabaza Sacrificio Mezcal (75cl, 47%)

Guías de Calabaza is a vegetarian Sacrificio mezcal from Bozal, made from 100% Espadín agave by mezcaleros Don Adrian and Lucio Bautista in Río de Ejutla. The agave is crushed with a bull-drawn stone tahona, baked in earthen pits, fermented and distilled. During the second distillation, a basket holding pumpkin stems, pineapple, plantain, orange, pumpkin seeds and chepiche hangs inside the still, in place of the animal protein traditionally used. It is bottled at 47% abv. The nose is bright with citrus peel and orange blossom, alongside herbal mint and eucalyptus. On the palate chepiche comes through, with warm vegetal notes from the pumpkin stems and plantain.
