Break the Mould is a 20 year old single cask Speyside single malt from Glen Grant, released as Artist #13. It was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2023 at 53.9%, from a first fill Oloso hogshead made of Spanish oak. The cask gave 175 bottles. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
Artist #13 SMWS was created by La Maison du Whisky together with The Scotch Malt Whisky Society to mark the Society's fortieth anniversary. Scottish artist Claire Barclay designed the imagery for the collection.
The nose is floral and fruity, with lime blossom, pine, guava and mango. The palate begins with ripe dates and caramel, then coconut, quince jelly and fresh orange. The finish is long, with nutmeg, cinnamon, cherry brandy and pine resin.
