A bourbon from Breaker, made by Ascendant Spirits in Buellton, California, bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Fully matured Breaker bourbon is finished in port wine barrels.
The barrels came from a local winemaker, a nod to the winemakers of the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Rita Hills near the distillery. The finish layers stewed fruit over the bourbon's vanilla and oak.
Tasting notes list vanilla, cereal grain, oak and spice with rich stewed fruit, and a dry finish in which citrus and spice linger over baked apple.
