Broken Barrel Heresy Rye Whiskey (75cl, 52.5%)

Heresy is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Broken Barrel Whiskey Co., bottled at 52.5% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was distilled in Owensboro, Kentucky, from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and aged for a minimum of two years. It is finished by submerging broken barrel staves in the tanked spirit. The stave blend is 40% charred French oak, 40% ex-bourbon cask and 20% sherry cask, the same bill the brand uses on its Small Batch bourbon. Tasting notes give grapefruit, pineapple and mango sorbet on the nose. The palate shows jammy cooked fruit and toasted baking spice, and the finish is drying, ending in chocolate-covered espresso beans.
