Brora – 25 Year Old 7th Special Release 2008 (70cl, 56.3%)

A 25 year old Brora from the coastal Highlands, the first official 25 year old bottling from the distillery and the seventh in the Special Releases. It was bottled in 2008 at a natural cask strength of 56.3% ABV, in an outturn of 3000 bottles. The nose offers bitter almonds, white wine, wet leaves and mushrooms, with cloves, ginger and lapsang souchong smoke, then ripe apples and pears. On the palate, green apple gives way to smoke, walnuts, crystallised lemon zest, liquorice, horseradish and green pepper. The finish is long and grassy, smokier again, with mustard and salt in the aftertaste.
