Brothers of the Leaf Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Toasted White Oak Casks (56%)

A small-batch straight rye whiskey from Brothers of the Leaf, finished in toasted white oak casks and bottled at 56% ABV (112 proof). The mash has a high rye content, which gives a layered, assertive spice, and the toasted oak adds creamy vanilla, light caramel and charred wood. On the nose there is black pepper, charred oak, vanilla cream, clove and toasted marshmallow. The palate sets spicy rye against toffee, dark caramel, toasted coconut and roasted nuts. The finish is long and dry, with cracked pepper, oak spice and sweet char. It can be taken neat or with a few drops of water, and suits a medium-bodied cigar or sharp aged cheese.
