Bruichladdich – 26 Year Old 1994 Black Art Edition 8.1 Unpeated (70cl, 45.1%)

An unpeated Islay single malt distilled in 1994 and bottled at 26 years old, at 45.1% in a 70cl bottle. It is the eighth edition of Bruichladdich Black Art, composed by the Head Distiller from casks chosen over the years. This is described as a lighter Black Art, built around the soft fruit and zesty character of the spirit rather than a set mould. The colour is hazel and rich copper. The nose brings citrus, lime zest and orange with caramel, dried apricot, pipe tobacco and maple syrup, then poached pear, rose, geranium and wild thyme. On the palate, lemon zest and warm honey lead to walnut, toasted oak, coconut and soft stoned fruit. The finish is gentle, with caramel, sultana and lemon drizzle cake.
