Bruichladdich Black Art 3.1 is a 22 year old Islay single malt and the third release in the Black Art series, created by distiller Jim McEwan. It is bottled at 48.7% ABV in a 70cl bottle, unpeated and of natural colour. This is a vatting of casks, issued as a limited edition of 12,000 individually numbered bottles. The bottle and tube are black, and the bottle carries symbols from earlier Black Art releases. The recipe is kept secret. The nose opens with vanilla pods, chocolate raisins, Christmas pudding, mulberry wine, date syrup and walnut. A little water brings out blueberries and plum jam, with hints of cinnamon and aniseed. The finish is velvety.
