Black Art Edition 11.1 is the eleventh release in Bruichladdich's Black Art series, a 24-year-old unpeated Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle. It was released in November 2023 and bottled at 44.2% ABV, without chill filtration and with natural colour.
Head distiller Adam Hannett created it in secret from pre-renaissance casks, filled before the distillery's revival in 2001 and matured entirely on Islay. The cask recipe is known only to him.
The nose brings peach cobbler, honey, apples, vanilla bean and malt, with a touch of slate. On the palate are sweet cream, buttery toffee, lemon peel and peaches and cream with a wisp of maritime smoke. The finish is long, with peach, apricot, toffee and soft oak.
