Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2012 is an unpeated Islay single malt made entirely from barley grown on eight farms on the island. It was distilled in 2012 from the 2011 harvest and matured for a minimum of eight years, 75% in first-fill American whiskey casks and 25% in French wine casks. It is bottled at 50% ABV, unchill-filtered and with no added colour.
The nose offers citrus, coconut, fresh barley and apple juice, with honey and vanilla. The palate is round and full-bodied, with porridge, rice pudding, brown sugar, pear, melon and orange. The finish is of medium length, with soft grain, honey, a light winey tartness and salted caramel.
