Bruichladdich Islay Barley is an Islay single malt made only from barley grown on seven farms on the island: Coull, Rockside, Dunlossit, Sunderland, Mulindry, Cruach and Island. The barley was harvested in 2012 and distilled in 2013.
The whisky matured for about eight years, with 75% in first-fill ex-bourbon American oak, and was then finished in sweet white wine casks.
The nose is floral, with fresh bread, apricot, banana, vanilla and honey. The palate is soft, with lemon zest, vanilla, ginger and white pepper. The finish is of medium length, with mineral and floral notes in the background.
