Bruichladdich – Octomore 10.2 Duty Free

Octomore 10.2 is a heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich, one of four Octomore bottlings in the tenth edition released in 2019. It was distilled in 2010 from the Scottish barley varieties Optic and Oxbridge, then matured for eight years: four in first-fill bourbon casks, followed by four in ex-Sauternes casks. The phenol level is 96.9 ppm, a deliberate step down from the 131 ppm of the first Octomore, as Head Distiller Adam Hannett chose a much reduced smoke character for this edition. It was bottled in 2019 at cask strength, non-chill-filtered and without added colour, in an edition of 24,000 bottles.
