Octomore 14.3 is a super heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, measured at 214.2 ppm and bottled at a cask strength of 61.4%. Its barley was grown on Octomore farm, less than two miles from the distillery, and the whisky was matured for five years.
Half of the spirit rested in first fill ex-American whiskey casks and half in second fill wine casks. It is bottled without added colouring and without chill-filtration.
The nose shows hot, sweet mash lifted by peat spice, with soft biscuity malted barley. Gentle notes of caramel, honeycomb and a hint of vanilla appear with deeper breathing.
