Octomore 14.4 is a 5-year-old Scotch single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 59.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle with a tin. It is the last release in the 14th edition of Octomore, peated to 106 ppm.
It was distilled in 2017 from Concerto barley of the 2016 harvest, grown on the Scottish mainland. The spirit matured in Colombian virgin oak casks, a new departure for the series, filled at several toasting levels from light and medium to heavy charring, then blended together.
The colour is apricot. The nose offers dry, earthy peat smoke and charred oak, with tropical fruit, peach, mango, passion fruit and pear, plus vanilla and coconut. On the palate it is warming and soft, with charred oak and peat smoke balanced by apple and pear.
