Bruichladdich Octomore 15.1 is a super heavily peated Islay single malt, bottled at 59.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It has a phenol level of 108.2 PPM.
It was distilled in 2018 from Scottish Mainland Concerto barley and aged for five years in first-fill bourbon barrels and re-charred ex-bourbon casks.
The nose combines caramel, citrus and earthy peat smoke with spicy aniseed, vanilla custard, mango, banana, ginger and floral notes. The palate has an intense heat that sweet malt and smoke soon soften, with apricot jam, mango, toffee and vanilla custard. The finish lingers with charred oak, vanilla and a fresh coastal edge.
