Bruichladdich – Octomore 16.2 (70cl, 58.1%)

Bruichladdich Octomore 16.2 is the second release in Octomore Series 16, a heavily peated single malt bottled at 58.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is made from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley malted to 101.4 PPM, and it is non-chill filtered with no added colour. It is the first Octomore matured in four casks: Oloroso sherry and Bordeaux wine, with a secondary finish in Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel wood. The peat acts as a backbone, leaving room for dried fruit, floral honey and coastal salinity. The distillery describes gentle peat smoke with salted caramel, honeyed melon and apricot, then cinnamon, star anise, toffee, chocolate and coconut. The finish is long, with black pepper, toffee and sea salt.
