Bruichladdich – Octomore 17.1 Single Malt Whisky (70cl)

Octomore 17.1 is a single malt Scotch whisky from Bruichladdich on Islay, in a 70cl bottle. The nose opens on sweet malt and vanilla custard, with toasted coconut and butterscotch from charred American oak, and citrus peel and green melon alongside. Peat embers and a beach bonfire carried on a salty breeze sit in the background, and floral barley, ginger spice and minerality emerge with time. The palate is viscous and sweet, with vanilla milkshake, Scottish tablet, custard tart, pear drops and malt syrup, while peat smoke builds in waves against a salty edge. The finish is long, moving from dry minerality to peat smoke, warm embers and soft char.
