Octomore 17.2 is a super heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 59.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is made from Concerto barley grown on the Scottish mainland and peated to 81 PPM.
Its cask history is layered: French oak that previously held Californian red wine, then bourbon, then Octomore spirit itself, followed by a final finish in first-fill port barriques.
The port finish brings a sweeter, fruit-led note to the smoke, with ripe berries, vanilla, oak, dark fruit and gentle spice, and a refined smoky finish.
