Octomore 17.2 is a single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, in a 70cl bottle.
The nose opens with ripe red fruit and jammy sweetness, raspberry and blackcurrant preserve, toasted oak, clove and aniseed. The smoke is dry and wood-fired rather than phenolic.
The palate is supple and viscous, with wine-poached berries, barley sugars and steadily building peat smoke, brightened by lemon zest and lime oil. The finish is long, with raisins, toasted oak and sweet malt fading to maritime salt and char.
