Octomore 17.3 is a 5 year old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, part of the Seventeen Series. The barley comes from a single field on Octomore Farm. It was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill casks that held Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, ice wine and Syrah, and it is bottled at 60.9% without colouring or chill-filtration.
The nose brings salted caramel, smoked apple and toasted coconut, with praline and vanilla cream. On the palate, dry ashy smoke and strong peat meet sweet malt, vanilla and caramel, with citrus oils and a clear saltiness. The finish is long and dry, and stays smoky and coastal.
