Octomore 17.3 is a heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich on Islay, in a 70cl bottle.
Its sweetness comes from first-fill oak, which shows as salted caramel, smoked apple and toasted coconut alongside the peat. The texture is full, viscous and peppery.
On the nose it opens with salty, tarry, medicinal peat smoke, then malted grain, brown sugar, lemon peel, green apple and pear. The finish is long and dry, with malty sweetness and vanilla fading into earthy smoke and sea salt.
