Octomore 3.1 is the third edition of Octomore, a five-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich bottled at 59% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in bourbon casks and made from barley grown in Scotland.
Its peating of 152 ppm was a record at the time, though later Octomore editions have passed it. The edition is limited to 18,000 bottles.
Octomore began in 2002, when Bruichladdich's master distiller Jim McEwan set out to make the most heavily peated whisky in the world.
