Bruichladdich – Octomore 7.2

Octomore 7.2 is the seventh edition of Bruichladdich's heavily peated Octomore series. The malt is peated to 208 ppm, which places it among the smokiest single malts made. It spent five years maturing in a combination of American oak and French red wine casks. It is unfiltered and uncoloured, and a limited release. The nose opens with earth and peat, then wood shavings, pepper and sea salt, before peach, lemon and orange appear. The palate is pleasantly oily, with salty and earthy notes, chilli, vanilla, pepper and a touch of mustard. The finish is long, with liquorice, charcoal and a little lemon.
