Octomore 8.2 is the eighth generation of Bruichladdich's Octomore series. It is peated to 167 ppm, comes in a matt black bottle shaped like a smoke pipe, and is limited to 36,000 bottles.
The whisky matured for eight years in a mix of casks, including French and Austrian sweet wine casks, and was finished in Amarone casks. It is bottled at 58.4%, and a splash of water is suggested.
It is intensely smoky and heavily peated, with apricot, stewed apple, orange and chocolate, joined by baking and roasted notes and oak. Some find toast with strawberry jam.
