Octomore 9.1 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, distilled in 2012 from Scottish Concerto barley harvested in 2011 and measuring 156 ppm. It was matured for five years in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks from Jim Beam (51%), Jack Daniel's (26%), Clermont (15%) and Old Grand-Dad (8%).
It was bottled in 2018 at a cask strength of 59.1%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour, in a limited release of 42,000 bottles.
Smoke and oak with sweet vanilla and toffee mark the nose. The palate is soft, with nuts, fudge, nougat, coconut and rose petals, and the long finish brings syrup, a little salt and lingering peat smoke.
