Octomore 9.3 is a five-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, in a 70cl bottle at 62.9% ABV and 133 ppm. It comes from the ninth Octomore series, released in 2018. It was made from 52 tonnes of malted Islay barley grown in 2011 at Octomore's Irene's Field, distilled in 2012 and filled into 134 casks, mostly second fill.
The casks were a mix of first fill ex-American, third fill virgin oak, second fill ex-Rivesaltes, second fill ex-Syrah and second fill bourbon.
The nose has malted barley, sweet Horlicks powder and fresh wort, with heather bonfire, black tea, golden syrup and lemon cake. The palate offers smoked tea, spice, pear, peach Melba, sea spray and heather. The finish is smoke, toasted oak, rye bread, salt and ozone.
