Octomore Edition 16.1 is a five-year-old, heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 59.3% in a 70cl bottle. It opens Series 16, launched in September 2025.
The spirit was distilled in 2019 from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley of the 2018 harvest, malted to 101.4 PPM. It matured entirely in first-fill American oak bourbon barrels and was bottled near cask strength, without chill filtration or added colour.
Tasting notes mention sea spray, orchard fruit, dried heather, camomile and delicate peat smoke on the nose. The palate offers salted caramel, honeyed melon, apricot, chocolate, coconut and minerals. The finish is long, with peat smoke, black pepper, sea salt and toffee.
