This is Octomore Edition 16.2, a five-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at cask strength at 58.1% ABV in a 700ml bottle. It is a 2023 release, non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The malt is made from 100% Scottish Concerto barley and measures 101.4 PPM. It was matured in continental Europe in first-fill and second-fill Oloroso sherry and Amarone casks.
The nose brings dark fruit, cocoa powder, toasted almonds and aged balsamic over earthy peat smoke. The palate is viscous, with stewed plums, espresso, dark chocolate and fig jam, and the finish is savoury, with oak spice, peat smoke and a saline note.
