Octomore Edition 17.1 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 59.7% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is the first-fill bourbon barrel expression of the Octomore 17 series.
The whisky was distilled in 2020 from Scottish mainland Concerto barley of the 2019 harvest, peated to 81.0 PPM, and matured for five years on Islay in first-fill bourbon barrels. It is non-chill filtered, has no added colour and was cut with Octomore Spring water.
In the tasting notes, vanilla milkshake, warm custard tart, pear drops and malt syrup meet dry, earthy smoke, smouldering oak and ash, with a saline note running through the sweetness.
