Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, distilled in 2014, aged for seven years and bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The barley is all Islay-grown Concerto and Propino from the 2013 harvest, taken from eight farms on the island and peated to 40 PPM. It matured mostly in first-fill bourbon casks (84%), with second-fill virgin oak and second-fill Bordeaux wine casks making up 8% each. It is non-chill filtered and has no added colouring. The nose is malty digestive biscuit and peat embers with vanilla, honey, toffee, citrus and orchard fruit. The palate opens with a citrus tang, then ripe stone fruit and gentle peat smoke, and the finish carries toasted oak and dry barbecue smoke.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
