Port Charlotte SC:01 is a heavily peated 2012 single malt from Bruichladdich. It is the first release in the distillery's cask exploration series to be made entirely from Islay grown barley.
The whisky was matured in French oak and has a marmalade colour.
The nose is sweet, with peaches in syrup, dried apricot, honeyed melon and pineapple, then vanilla fudge, marzipan and honeysuckle, before peat smoke and toasted oak come through. On the palate, light peat smoke sits alongside ripe fruit, leather, boot polish, chocolate and citrus. The finish carries marine notes, earthy smoke and a citrus tang.
