The Laddie Rye is a single grain Scotch whisky from Bruichladdich on Islay, bottled at 50% ABV. It is made from a mash of Islay-grown rye and malted barley.
The whisky was matured for around seven years in American oak.
The nose starts with peppery rye, then soft caramel, vanilla and sea-salt air, with green apple or pear alongside. On the palate the rye brings lively spice and white pepper, rounded by malted barley, soft oak, vanilla and a little brine. The finish is clean and lingering, with pepper, cereal sweetness, citrus zest and a faint saltiness.
