Bruichladdich The Organic 2011 is an unpeated Islay single malt distilled in 2011 and matured for 11 years exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at 50% in a 75cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and at natural colour.
The barley is 100% organic Publican, grown at Mid Coul Farm in Dalcross, near Inverness, without artificial fertilisers or pesticides since the first harvest there in 2003. The whisky is part of the distillery's Barley Provenance series.
The nose offers crème brûlée, cantaloupe and lemon zest, with floral notes turning to honeyed oak and toasted malt. The palate is rich and oily, with barley sugar, vanilla fudge and ripe pear and a maritime saline note. The finish is long, with honey, toasted oak, sweet barley and a trace of citrus.
