Bruichladdich – The Organic 2011 Unpeated Single Malt Whisky (75cl, 50%)

This is an unpeated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 50% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is made entirely from organic Publican barley grown at Mid Coul Farm in the north of Scotland, where the Rose family has farmed since 1912 without artificial fertilisers or pesticides. The whisky was distilled slowly and matured entirely on Islay. The nose brings crème brûlée, honey, lemon zest and green apple with delicate floral hints. The palate is thick and oily, with vanilla fudge, barley sugar, caramelised pear and a light salty note. The finish is medium to long and smooth, with warm baking spices and a lingering sweetness.
