Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from Melini is a red wine from Montalcino in Tuscany, made exclusively from Sangiovese. It is intense ruby red, tending to garnet with ageing. The nose is complex, with ripe red fruit, cherry and plum, spice, tobacco, chocolate, vanilla and leather from long ageing in cask. On the palate it is rich and powerful yet elegant, with robust but refined tannins, balanced acidity, intense red fruit, spice and balsamic notes, and a long, persistent finish. It suits rich dishes such as roast red meats, game, truffle dishes and aged cheeses, or slow enjoyment on its own.
