A red wine from Montalcino made exclusively from Sangiovese and aged in oak barrels. It has an intense ruby colour tending to garnet with age. The nose shows ripe forest fruits, cherries in spirit, tobacco, dark chocolate, sweet spices such as vanilla, leather and liquorice. On the palate it has a dense but refined tannic structure, lively acidity and a long finish with dried fruit and spice. It suits Tuscan dishes such as wild boar stew, red meat braises and aged cheeses.
