Buchanan's 18 Year is an 18-year-old blended Scotch whisky, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The blend brings together around 15 single malt and grain whiskies, with Dalwhinnie among the confirmed components.
It is matured in ex-sherry oak barrels, which contribute dried fruit and chocolate character.
The nose opens with dark chocolate and cocoa, then toffee and a little sweetness. On the palate it is smooth, with honey and vanilla giving way to coffee, roasted nuts, red plum and orange peel. The finish is long and warming, with a gentle dryness from the sherry casks.
