Buchanan's Special Reserve 18 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). It combines single malt and grain whiskies, each matured for a minimum of 18 years, with ex sherry oak used in the maturation.
The house was founded by James Buchanan in 1884, and Special Reserve was created to honour his pioneering spirit. The whisky pours a deep amber.
The nose offers dark chocolate, cocoa and toffee with hints of dried fruit. The palate is full bodied, with red plum, orange, honey, caramel and roasted walnut. The finish is long and silky, with honeyed oak, coffee, vanilla and a soft banana nut sweetness.
