Buchanan's Special Reserve 18 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky in a 750ml bottle. Every whisky in the blend, malt and grain alike, is at least 18 years old, and all of it was matured in ex-sherry oak barrels.
The range goes back to James Buchanan, who began blending in 1884. This is its sherry-cask expression, and it won a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2024.
The nose offers cocoa and toffee. The palate is silky, with red plum, orange, roasted nuts and dark chocolate, and the finish brings honeyed oak, coffee and vanilla.
