Bulleit '87 Frontier Whiskey is a Kentucky bourbon bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The '87 refers to 1987, the year Thomas E. Bulleit Jr. launched Bulleit Frontier Whiskey to revive the high-rye recipe of his great-great-grandfather Augustus Bulleit, a Louisville tavern-keeper in the 1830s.
The mash bill is 68% corn, 28% rye and 4% malted barley.
The nose is rich and thick, with warm spices, toasted oak and toffee. The palate is smooth yet assertive, with vanilla, baking spices, English toffee and a dash of pepper. The finish is smooth and drying, with lingering toffee.
