Bulleit Bourbon is a high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 45% ABV in a 375ml bottle. Its mashbill is 68% corn, 28% rye and 4% malted barley, and it is distilled in column stills in Shelbyville and Lebanon, Kentucky. The recipe comes from a family formula dating back to the 1830s, revived by Tom Bulleit in 1987.
The nose is gently spicy over sweet oak, with vanilla, caramel and orange zest, and quieter smoke, cherry and toasted wood. The palate begins sweet and honeyed, then widens to maple, nutmeg, brown sugar and nougat, with a dry, peppery rye spine. The finish is long and dry, with light toffee and lingering rye spice.
